Test on Burnt Clay Bricks
There’re lots of tests perform on brick to check the quality but here we describe only major two tests to be performed in the case of burnt clay bricks
Water Absorption
Here the water-absorbing capacity of a brick is assessed. For this, a brick is taken and soaked in water for about 16 hours.
The bricks are weighed before and after soaking and the differences in the two weights gives the amount of water absorbed by the bricks.
It should not exceed 20% by the weight of a dry brick.
Hardness
Here a scratch make is made on the surface of the brick with a fingernail.
If no impression is left on the surface of the brick then the bricks are treated as hard.
