Top 5 Tips For Civil Engineering Must Know

If you are a civil engineer then you must know all these things which are explained here in The Civil Experiences blog.

We explain all point in short and strait to answer so you can easy remember them.

Tip 1:- Chair Spacing

What Is The Maximum Chair Spacing?

Maximum Spacing between two chairs is 1 meter.

What Is A Chair?

The chair is a reinforcement bar peace of special shape for providing maintaining the proper space between two-layer (top layer and bottom layer) slabs reinforcements.

Chair reinforcement is used to keep reinforcements at the correct position in as in structure design which must need because the structure engineer set reinforcement at the optimum value to safeguard from corrosion, and fire, and also from an cost economical point of view.

That is done by either using wire or plastic chairs, or little blocks of concrete.

#2 Number Of Stirrups

A stirrup is a closed-loop element of reinforcement bar.

Main function of Stirrups is holding the main reinforcement bars at the proper position in a reinforced concrete element of beam/columns.

Key Function of Use of Stirrups: Better to manage the shear capacity in the building element.

What Is The Difference Between The Stirrup And Lateral Tie?

Stirrups are used for shear capacity and torsional reinforcement and have many different sections based on the need. Ties are typically

Tip 3:- Minimum Thickness Of The Slab

Normally not less than 5 inches or 125 mm.

After it depends on the structure design of the building

Tip 4:- Dimension Tolerance Of Cube

Dimension tolerance of cube Is ” + or – 2 mm “

Why Cube Size Is 150 X 150 X 150 Mm Or 100 X 100 X 100 Mm?

Compression testing cube is normally 150 x 150 x 150 mm or 100 x 100 x 100 mm

Size does not matter but if we use a larger size cube for testing then we need a testing machine which a capacity of tons and has larger pressure for testing the cube during the time of failure particles of the cube is behaving like a bullet and the chances of damage and hurt people

#5 Brick

The compressive strength of brick is 3.5 N/mm2

The density of brick is 1600-1900 kg/m3

Extra Tip:- Lapping

Lapping does not provide if reinforcements bars are 32 mm or more in size
