  • Not suitable for high design speed more than 55-60 km/h 

Construction practice

  • The blocks are laid over a layer of sand which thickness is only 30—50 mm, Which in turn is laid over a base layer of lean concrete, granular material, cement-bound material etc

Details of bedding of concrete blocks

  • The sand layer needs to be confined by means of edge supports for retaining sand in layer
  • Afier the blocks are laid by hand, they are compacted into the sand by any compactor
  • The open spaces in the joints are filled by fresh sand 
  • The width between the joint itself should not be more than 5 mm
